Do Wars Really End?
Mezzo Soprano with Handbell and Electronics
Composed: 2022/2023 Premiered: 2023
Inspired by my fascination with history, this collection of songs uses poetry from different perspectives during World War I. The text comes from philosophers, poets, and even a soldier serving in the war. These songs combine the use of handbell and pre-recorded electronic sounds with a mezzo soprano voice to create a sonic environment of mourning and melancholy as it relates to tragedy that comes with war.

It includes the use of pre-recorded synthesizer sounds, a looper pedal, and the modifying of the trumpet through different guitar effect pedals. The premise behind the composition was that it was something that I could play by myself in my apartment.
